Common Name:
Salvia ‘So Cool Purple’

Description:
Salvia SO COOL™ ‘Purple’ is a compact, evergreen shrub from the Australian-bred SO COOL™ series, developed for vibrant colour and resilience in hot, dry conditions. ‘Purple’ features rich purple, tubular flowers that bloom in abundance above fresh green, aromatic foliage, creating a long-lasting and eye-catching display. The plant forms a dense, mounding habit, making it perfect for borders, small hedges, mixed beds, and container gardening. In Melbourne, this salvia performs best in full sun to part shade and thrives in well-drained soils. It is drought tolerant once established and tolerates light frosts. Flowering extends from spring through to late autumn, with minimal upkeep required—an occasional prune will encourage bushy regrowth and continued blooming. ‘So Cool Purple’ is highly attractive to bees and pollinators, and its tidy growth makes it a standout in both formal and informal planting schemes.
