Common Name:
Prostrate White African Daisy
Description:
Osteospermum ecklonis 'Prostrate White' is a low-growing, evergreen perennial known for its sprawling habit and abundant white daisy-like flowers. The plant forms a dense mat of foliage, typically reaching up to 20 cm in height, making it an excellent ground cover option. The leaves are oblanceolate, measuring 6–8 cm in length, providing a lush green backdrop to the striking blooms. Each flowerhead spans approximately 6 cm in width, featuring white ray florets tinged with purple beneath, and a contrasting central disc. Flowering predominantly occurs from late spring through to autumn, with the possibility of extended blooming periods in milder climates. This variety thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, displaying moderate drought tolerance once established. Its prostrate growth habit makes it ideal for cascading over walls, edging pathways, or filling in garden beds, adding a carpet of vibrant white flowers to the landscape.
