Common Name:
Ice Plant
Description:
Lampranthus EXPLOSION® ‘Purple’ is a vigorous, low-growing succulent ground cover prized for its masses of vibrant purple, daisy-like flowers that create a striking display from spring through to autumn. The brilliant blooms open in sunny conditions and contrast beautifully against the dense carpet of fleshy, bright green foliage. Well suited to Melbourne's climate, this hardy variety thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, performing exceptionally well in rockeries, coastal gardens, retaining walls, garden borders and containers. Once established it is highly drought tolerant and requires minimal maintenance, making it an excellent choice for water-wise landscapes. Regular removal of spent flowers encourages continued blooming and helps maintain a neat appearance. Its spreading habit provides excellent weed suppression while adding long-lasting colour to the garden.
