Common Name: Little Drumsticks Isopogon (Isopogon anemonifolius ‘Little Drumsticks’)
Description:
Little Drumsticks is a compact, dwarf form of the Australian native Isopogon anemonifolius, prized for its finely divided, soft green foliage and its distinctive spherical, golden-yellow flower heads. Blooming from late winter through spring and sometimes into early summer, the flowers resemble small drumsticks and attract a wide variety of pollinators including bees, butterflies, and nectar-feeding birds. This hardy plant thrives in well-drained soils and is well suited to Melbourne’s climate, performing best in full sun to part shade. It is drought and frost tolerant once established, and can withstand coastal conditions. Its neat, clumping form makes it ideal for rockeries, containers, borders, or mass plantings, where it offers both visual interest and ecological benefits. The flowers are also excellent for cutting.
