Common Name:
Foamy Bells ‘Sweet Tea’
Description:
Heucherella ‘Sweet Tea’ is a striking foliage perennial admired for its dramatic leaf colouration and compact, mounding form. A hybrid between Heuchera and Tiarella, this variety features large, deeply lobed leaves that emerge in rich cinnamon-orange tones in spring, intensify with darker veining through summer, and develop a warm, amber-bronze hue in cooler weather. The leaves remain evergreen in most Melbourne conditions, offering year-round interest in shaded and semi-shaded spots. Delicate sprays of small, creamy white flowers appear in late spring to early summer, rising above the foliage on slender stems. 'Sweet Tea' performs best in part shade with well-drained, humus-rich soil, and benefits from protection against harsh afternoon sun. It’s an excellent choice for underplanting, mixed borders, woodland-style gardens, and decorative containers. This cultivar offers outstanding seasonal colour with minimal upkeep and is well-suited to cool-temperate gardens.
