Common Name:
Baby Blue Eucalyptus
Description:
Eucalyptus pulverulenta 'Baby Blue' is a compact, ornamental form of the silver-leaved mountain gum, grown primarily for its stunning silvery-blue juvenile foliage, which is held along upright stems in pairs. Unlike most eucalyptus species, 'Baby Blue' retains its juvenile leaves throughout its life, making it highly prized for floral arrangements, both fresh and dried. Native to New South Wales and well-suited to Melbourne gardens, this small tree or large shrub thrives in full sun with well-drained soil and is tolerant of drought and light frost once established. It produces small clusters of creamy white flowers in late winter to early spring, which are bee-attracting and subtly scented. With its manageable size, striking year-round foliage, and high ornamental value, ‘Baby Blue’ is ideal as a feature plant, in native garden schemes, or for hedging and foliage harvesting.
