Common Name:
Silver Princess
Description:
Eucalyptus caesia 'Silver Princess' is a breathtaking small ornamental gum renowned for its gracefully weeping branches, silvery-white bark, and large, pink-red flowers with prominent yellow stamens. A naturally occurring form of the Western Australian Eucalyptus caesia, 'Silver Princess' thrives in Melbourne’s drier gardens, bringing year-round architectural beauty and seasonal floral brilliance. Its trunk and limbs are covered in a white, powdery bloom (caesia), which contrasts beautifully with the pendulous, silver-green foliage. Flowering from late autumn through winter, the bell-shaped blossoms attract nectar-feeding birds, bees, and beneficial insects. It prefers full sun and well-drained soils and is particularly well suited to sandy, gravelly, or poor soils. Once established, it is drought-tolerant, light frost-resistant, and requires very little maintenance. Silver Princess is ideal as a striking specimen tree in native, Mediterranean, or xeriscape garden designs.
