Common Name:
Paroo Lily 'Cassa Blue'®
Description:
Dianella caerulea (DBB03) Cassa Blue® is a standout compact variety of the native Paroo Lily, prized for its tidy, clumping form and striking blue-toned foliage. Unlike many other Dianella species, Cassa Blue® maintains a dense and upright habit, making it ideal for structured garden designs, edging, low borders, and feature plantings in modern Australian landscapes. From spring into early summer, it produces small blue-purple star-shaped flowers on short stems, followed by attractive deep blue berries that are bird-friendly and add seasonal interest. It thrives in Melbourne’s full sun to part shade conditions and is tolerant of frost, drought, and coastal exposure once established. Cassa Blue® performs best in well-drained soils and requires minimal maintenance, holding its colour and shape year-round. Its clean, architectural form and year-round appeal make it a designer favourite for residential and commercial plantings alike.
