Common Name:
Golden Atlas Cedar
Description:
The Cedrus atlantica ‘Aurea’, or Golden Atlas Cedar, is a striking evergreen conifer prized for its golden-yellow foliage that adds year-round interest to gardens and landscapes. This slow-growing, medium-to-large tree has a graceful, pyramidal shape with horizontal branching, making it a fantastic specimen tree. Its needle-like leaves emerge a bright golden-yellow in spring, deepening to a softer golden-green as the seasons progress. It thrives in well-drained soils and is highly drought-tolerant once established. Best planted in full sun to enhance its golden colouring, it is a hardy tree suited to Melbourne’s climate. Due to its size, it is ideal for parks, large gardens, or as a dramatic focal point in expansive landscapes.
