Common Name:
Jala Avocado

Description:
Avocado ‘Jala JA1A’ is a productive grafted avocado variety grown for its creamy, rich-flavoured fruit and vigorous evergreen growth. This attractive fruiting tree develops a dense canopy of glossy green foliage, making it both a practical edible plant and an ornamental addition to larger gardens. The fruit typically has smooth to lightly textured green skin with buttery flesh and excellent eating quality. Flowering occurs from spring, followed by fruit development through the warmer months depending on local growing conditions. In Melbourne’s climate, avocado trees perform best in a warm, protected position with full sun and well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Protection from heavy frost and strong winds is recommended, especially while young. Regular watering during dry periods and feeding through the growing season will encourage healthy growth and reliable fruit production. This variety is well suited to home orchards, productive gardens, and large feature pots when maintained with pruning.
